No timed-entry or vehicle reservation is needed to enter Saguaro in 2026. Entrance is $25 per vehicle. Check any visit date against the official 2026 rules.

The 2026 season at Saguaro

This is what applies across the published season. Use the date checker below for a specific day.

Scenic drive gate hours apply on every date in 2026. Some activities need their own permit.

An entrance fee or accepted pass is required on every visit, separately from anything below.

  1. Park entrance

    Required

    You must pay the park entrance fee or show an accepted pass.

    • Private vehicle: $25, valid for 7 days.
    • Motorcycle: $20.
    • Per person on foot or bicycle: $15.
    • An America the Beautiful pass covers this entrance fee. It does not cover any reservation or permit below.
    • One entrance fee covers BOTH districts - the Tucson Mountain District (West) and the Rincon Mountain District (East) - which are about 30 miles apart on opposite sides of Tucson with the city in between. Cashless: credit/debit only. Automated fee machines are available outside the Rincon Mountain fee kiosk, outside the Red Hills Visitor Center, and in the King Canyon trailhead parking lot.

      Applies to Cactus Forest Loop Drive in the Rincon Mountain District (East); Bajada Loop Scenic Drive - Golden Gate Road and Hohokam Road - in the Tucson Mountain District (West)

      • Covered by the entrance fee; no separate road fee.
      • The park itself is always open and you can walk or bike in 24 hours a day - only the scenic drives are gated.
      • The daily hours on this rule are the East district's Cactus Forest Loop Drive hours.
      • The West district's Bajada Loop Scenic Drive is open to vehicles during daylight hours; NPS does not publish clock times for it.
      • Arizona does not observe Daylight Saving Time - park local time stays on Mountain Standard Time year-round.

      Applies to Saguaro Wilderness Area backcountry campgrounds, all in the Rincon Mountain District (East). There is no camping in the Tucson Mountain District (West).

      • NPS does not publish the backcountry permit fee on its permits and reservations page - amount unknown from official NPS sources.
      • Permits are required for individual overnight hiking and camping, individual overnight horseback riding, and any group overnight hiking, camping or horseback riding.
      • Permits are purchased online through Recreation.gov.
      • There is no drive-in or developed campground anywhere in the park.

One entrance fee covers BOTH districts - the Tucson Mountain District (West) and the Rincon Mountain District (East) - which are about 30 miles apart on opposite sides of Tucson with the city in between. An America the Beautiful pass is accepted here. It covers the entrance fee only. It does not cover a timed-entry permit, a vehicle reservation, a parking tag, a shuttle ticket, or an activity permit.

The $45 Saguaro annual pass covers up to 4 adults over 16, or everyone in a single non-commercial vehicle, and is accepted in both districts. Children 15 and under are free. There is no reservation system for a pass to interact with.

From 2026 a fee-free day waives the entrance fee for U.S. residents. Other visitors still pay it. A fee-free day never waives a reservation, a permit, or a booking fee unless the park says so.
