Release detail: No booking. The road opens to uphill traffic at 9 am on operating days, but can open as late as 12 pm depending on conditions.

Fee detail: No separate fee; the park entrance fee is collected at Heart O' the Hills whenever the road is open.

Exceptions and limits

• In winter the road is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only, plus some holidays; Monday through Thursday it stays gated. Even on operating days, opening is weather and road conditions permitting.
• No reservation or permit is needed - this is a schedule restriction, not a reservation system.
• Hurricane Ridge Road is closed on Christmas Day (December 25).
• All vehicles, including 4-wheel drive, must carry tire chains above Heart O' the Hills November 1 through April 1.
• All vehicles must be below the Heart O' the Hills entrance station by 5 pm during the winter season.
• March 31 through April 30 the road may open or close depending on conditions.
