No timed-entry or vehicle reservation is needed to enter Mesa Verde in 2026. Entrance is $30 per vehicle in peak season, $20 off-season. Check any visit date against the official 2026 rules.

No reservation is required to enter Mesa Verde National Park in 2026. Some activities need their own permit.
An entrance fee or accepted pass is required on every visit, separately from anything below.
Park entrance

- On January 1, 2026 the seasonal rate applies: $20 — Winter entrance rate (Jan 1, 2026 – Apr 30, 2026).
- Outside that window the standard rate is $30 per private vehicle.
- $20 per private vehicle January 1 - April 30, 2026, valid 7 days. Motorcycle $15. Per person $15 year-round. The peak rates ($30 vehicle / $25 motorcycle) begin May 1, 2026. Mesa Verde Annual Pass $55.
- An America the Beautiful pass covers this entrance fee. It does not cover any reservation or permit below.
- The standard rate is the May 1 - Oct 22 peak rate. Mesa Verde drops to a winter rate Oct 23 - Apr 30: $20 private vehicle, $15 motorcycle. The per-person rate stays $15. All standard passes are valid 7 days. The $55 Mesa Verde Annual Pass is good for a year from date of sale. CRITICAL: the entrance fee does NOT include a cliff dwelling tour.

- Wetherill Mesa is open May 22 - October 21, 2026, with a 2:00 pm last entry. The rest of the park, including Chapin Mesa, stays open daily year-round. The 2:00 pm value is the LAST ENTRY at the gate, not a closing time.
- Far View Sites and Cedar Tree Tower access roads closed for construction. This is a temporary construction closure of two spur roads; the main park road and Chapin Mesa remain open.

Applies to Cliff Palace, Balcony House, Square Tower House (Chapin Mesa) and Long House, Mug House (Wetherill Mesa)
- Cliff Palace is $8.00 per person, ages 3 and up, on Recreation.gov. Prices for the other tours (Balcony House, Square Tower House, Long House, Mug House) may differ. NPS does not publish tour prices on its own page.
- Step House on Wetherill Mesa is the one cliff dwelling you can enter without a ranger-led tour reservation.
- Overlooks, the Mesa Top Loop, and the museum need no tour ticket — only entry into a cliff dwelling does.
- Cancelled tickets return to Recreation.gov and can be bought up to two hours before a tour.
- A Morefield Campground or Far View Lodge booking gives no tour ticket and no priority. Book the tour separately on the 14-day window.

An America the Beautiful pass is accepted here. It covers the entrance fee only. It does not cover a timed-entry permit, a vehicle reservation, a parking tag, a shuttle ticket, or an activity permit.
A pass, or a fee-free day, covers the entrance fee only. Ranger-guided cliff dwelling tours are ticketed separately on Recreation.gov and no pass covers them. From 2026 the servicewide fee-free days apply to U.S. residents only. Mesa Verde is not one of the 11 parks charging the $100 non-U.S.-resident fee.
